As one of the honorees of the inaugural YoPro class, Santra Denis remains a trailblazer in our community. Since receiving the award, Santra was promoted as the Chief Programs Officer at Catalyst Miami, an anti-poverty organization in Miami, FL. She founded Avanse Ansanm, an organization based in South Florida. Its mission is to engage and connect Haitian-American Millennials to understand and harness their collective economic and political power. In addition, it aims to preserve Haitian culture in Haitian- American Millennials and cultivate a strong community bounded by a shared strategy to advance All Things Haitian.
Santra currently serves on several community boards, including Miami Dade County’s Office of New Americans and The Community Advisory Board at Florida International University Research Center in Minority Institutions to name a few. She’s a co-host of The VSS Hour, an hour-long, radio show/ podcast hosted every Sunday at 12:00 P.M. The show also includes past YoPro honorees, Shirley and Vanessa where they feature current events, hot topics, Haitian excellence and community issues.
