June 13, 2018 Miami – NATIONAL INSURANCE AWARENESS DAY. National Insurance Awareness Day is observed each year on June 28. This day was created as a day to review your insurance coverage. Insurance offers security, covering loved ones and recovering losses in the event of damage, illness or death. PSE will acknowledge this day by hosting a special Small Business Insurance workshop for small business owners and entrepreneurs.

75 percent of businesses in the U.S are under insured by 40 percent or more, according to Marshall & Swift/Boeckh. According to the Insurance Information Institute, about 40 percent of small business owners have no insurance at all this could result in a huge aftermath of losses, should an incident occur that requires repair or rebuild of property or interruption of business. With such a large percentage of businesses found to be under insured it is important to understand how to avoid the most common mistakes that result in up to 40% of businesses not re-opening following disaster.

Local SBA micro-lender Partners for Self-Employment is celebrating 25 years of service providing capacity building, technical assistance and access to capital to South Florida low to moderate income communities.”No one takes credit for creating the national observation day” said Metris Batts-Coley, the fund development specialist for Partners for Self-Employment. “Small business owners can take advantage of this “observation day” and learn about the types of business insurance that their businesses may need.” The workshop will be facilitated by PSE industry expert volunteer instructors.
