Executive Director
Job Description
The Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (HACCOF) is seeking an experienced, energetic, and creative Executive Director to oversee all operations, functions, and activities. The right applicant is entrepreneurial and tech-savvy, is an influential manager with ability to lead and motivate and possesses great communication skills and take a holistic approach in managing the chamber’s operations. This leadership role works closely with our executive board.


  • Develop and implement strategies aiming to promote the organization’s mission and “voice”.
  • Create/complete business plans for the attainment of goals and objectives set by the board of directors.
  • Build an effective team of leaders by providing guidance and coaching to subordinate managers.
  • Ensure adherence of the chamber’s daily activities and long-term plans to established policies and legal guidelines.
  • Act as the public speaker and public relations representative of the chamber in ways that strengthen its profile.
  • Devise remedial actions for any identified issues and conduct crisis management when necessary.
  • Identify and assess funding opportunities for HACCOF’s growth and direct and oversee fundraising efforts.
  • Ensure the viability of the chamber.
  • Develop and maintain a well-defined marketing strategy.
  • Develop and implement a business retention and expansion program to include regular verbal communication with business owners.
  • Develop relationships and foster communication with chamber members, donors, and partnering chambers.
  • Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the chamber monthly and develop strategies that will capitalize on the strengths and eliminate/reduce weaknesses.
  • Respond to inquiries from businesses, contractors, consultants, partnering chambers, related issues, or problems.
  • Advise the Board of Directors on policies and activities.
  • Develop and disseminate reports, planning, and budget documents.
  • Prepare grant applications or assist in the grant writing process.
  • Develop and implement budget recommendations.
  • Prepare and manage agendas as directed by the Executive Board.
  • Compile supporting documents for agenda, prepare meeting minutes for approval by the Executive Board and attend meetings, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Experience in developing strategies and plans
  • Ability to apply successful fundraising and networking techniques.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance
  • In depth knowledge of corporate governance principles and managerial best practices.
  • An analytical mind capable for “out-of-the-box” thinking to solve problems.
  • Outstanding organization and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of proven experience as executive director or in other managerial position.

  • MSc/MA in business administration or relevant field.
  • Work is performed in both internal and external environments.
  • May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry, and vision to monitor.
  • May be subject to long hours, evenings, and/or weekends.
  • Must be fluent in English and Creole.

The Role

We are looking for a hands on Marcomms Manager to work side by side with the Head of Marketing. Reporting directly to our Head of Marketing, you will have a ringside seat and gain the necessary experience to become a world-class marketer while developing your true leadership potential. However, this role is not for the fainthearted as Digicel International is a very face paced environment and we are looking for an individual who is a complete self-starter with great initiative, who can work on his or her own and with a team.

The Marketing Communications Manager is responsible for protecting the company’s brand equity and supports efforts that ensure the company’s positive image is relayed in all marketing communications, throughout various channels (digital, retail, above the line, below the line, customer care, etc). The role is also responsible for supporting the commercial goals of all companies under Digicel International through executing marketing excellence.

  • Support the Head of Marketing on the development and implementation of a specific communication strategy for each one of our products to ensure the commercial and brand goals of the various products are achieved.
  • Create a quarterly initiative roadmap for advertising, public relations and digital platforms to support the group’s commercial goals.
  • Work together with the Distribution team in build the necessary POS Material for all our Retail Stores
  • Responsible for the content and communication in all our channels; including but not limited to the App, Web, Social Media channels and Distributors communication among other.
  • Collaborate with Digicel Group in developing a cohesive image and communication strategy amongst the international and domestic brand
  • Prepare and manage marketing plans for various commercial offerings & markets.
  • Execute deep dive exploratory research, ad-hoc research and/or quarterly brand trackers.
  • Work with the design team as well as the creative agencies, to conceptualize and design all necessary communication elements to support the commercial goals of all product divisions.
  • Ensure positive brand equity is maintained through a strong media presence.
  • Evaluate the success of various communication strategies and provide and implement recommendations for improvement.
  • Create a collaborative environment for all team members to work and grow professionally.
  • Daily team management and bi-yearly performance reviews for team members.
  • Responsible for the management and negotiation of our creative agencies across the markets.
  • Responsible to manage the agnostic team to effectively support all business units.

What we’d like to see

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications.
  • 6-7 years’ experience working in a similar group role.
  • Experience designing and executing marketing strategies for consumer.
  • Experience collaborating with multicultural and remote team members would be a plus.
  • Experience managing branding, advertising and research agencies.
  • Strong grasp on the creative process and tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, Final Cut, Indesign, etc)
  • A hunger to learn and an ambition to be the best version of yourself
