A change agent impacting multi-disciplinary, and multi-purposed government entities, Gedel Merzius is an Assistant City Manager for the City of North Miami Beach. An accomplished executive and local government professional with a decade worth of public service experience, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to seamlessly connect business priorities amongst stakeholders.
Merzius served as an Economic Development Department professional at the City of Miami Beach, driving key economic strategies. Through active engagement, strategic planning and partnership with constituents of the Middle Beach community with the Florida Department of Transportation, and Miami-Dade County’s Transportation Department, Merzius collaborated with staff to the city’s visioning process by rendering a $15 Million General Obligation Bond program for a conceptual streetscape design plan.
A North Miami native, Merzius understands the importance of community and demonstrates this while serving on the board of the Police Athletic League of North Miami and as a former Fellow of Sant La, an organization charged with Empowering, Strengthening and Uplifting South Florida’s Haitian Community. Merzius is also a member of PACT (People Acting for Community Together), which unites faith-based organizations, that upholds the accountability of promoting fairness and justice throughout Miami-Dade County.
The unyielding support given throughout his career by his wife Tiffany, Mother and Father have proven to be the cornerstone of his success and instrumental in his accomplishments.
Merzius earned an MBA from Nova Southeastern University, Huizenga School of Business, and a BA in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University.
