Magda Demerritt

Dr. Magda Demerritt, LCSW-QS, is a Haitian-American South Florida native who attended Florida International University, where she earned her master’s in social work. She earned her Doctorate in Social Work with a focus in Administration from Walden University in May of 2021. She is certified in child welfare, trauma interventions and trained in crisis management interventions. Dr. Demerritt runs her private practice and has over 15 years of experience providing treatment to individuals ages six and up who present with various mental health challenges. Further, she provides community education regarding mental health to remove the stigma and normalize therapeutic intervention for minorities, particularly in the Haitian community. Dr. Demerritt works to expand her reach in the community by collaborating with local schools and organizations in the North Miami area to ensure they have Social Work Interns to enhance Mental Health care at their organizations. Dr. Demerritt also provides mentorship to young women through the P3 Summer Executive Internship Program. In addition to the education and development of Social Workers, she is sought after for her ability to communicate the importance of mental health wellness to the Haitian Community and local Churches. She currently serves as the Clinical Director at the MJD Wellness Center, a non-profit medical facility providing holistic care predominately to Haitian individuals in the community. Finally, Dr. Demerritt provides education and supervision for registered clinical social workers and serves as a Field Advisor and Adjunct Instructor at local Universities educating the next generation of Social Workers.
