Rebecca Beliard, a native New Yorker and proud Haitian woman, is an entertainment attorney, public speaker, and a career and business coach. Rebecca earned her B.S. in Legal Studies, and M.A. in Government and Politics from St. John’s University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida.
Rebecca started her career at Sony Music Entertainment working in the Copyright Department before transitioning to New York City’s Hot 97 radio station in their promotions department. Shortly after, Rebecca landed a role at ViacomCBS in their legal department supporting the company’s subsidiary businesses including Showtime Network, Inside Edition and Simon and Schuster. Upon graduating law school, Rebecca relocated to Miami, Florida and joined Akerman, LLP a nationally recognized law firm with over 700 lawyers practicing in 24 different cities. Rebecca’s practice focused on a wide range of transactional matters including contract negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, and general business matters. Currently, Rebecca is an Associate Corporate Counsel at Amazon Music. In her role at Amazon Music, she negotiates deals with major record labels, independent record labels, performing rights organizations and works on podcast deals for Amazon Music’s newly launched podcast platform.
Outside of work, Rebecca regularly speaks on cutting edge topics in the entertainment industry and on professional development and networking. Rebecca also enjoys giving back to her community and lends her legal expertise as a volunteer attorney for the Haitian Lawyers Association and the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts program. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys singing, dancing, attending music festivals, trying new foods, traveling and outdoor activities including going to the beach, biking and hiking.
