Daniel Nicolas is the Coordinator of Equal Opportunity Programs and Diversity at Florida International University. Through his role, he serves as a strategic partner in leveraging and implementing value-added Diversity initiatives for the University community. He also has a strong passion for giving back to the community as evidenced by his current post as President of the Urban League of Broward County Young Professionals Network (YPN), an auxiliary of the Urban League of Broward County whose membership consists of professionals in various industries including Law, Health, Finance and more. YPN provides value-added volunteer resources for the community empowerment programs of the Urban League of Broward County. In addition, the organization also provides professional development for its membership.
While working as a Human Resources Coordinator at Florida State University, he served as Staff Advisor to the Haitian Cultural Club of Tallahassee from 2004-2006. In addition, he served on the HALO planning conference committee in 2007. Furthermore, Daniel is a member of the prestigious Beta Beta Lambda (Miami Chapter) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. Through his service in the fraternity, he has been intricately involved in the Go To High School, Go To College initiative at Booker T. Washington High School. This initiative is a series of workshops guided towards preparing high school students for graduation and college readiness.
As a leader in his field, he has also served as a Chairperson on the Broward County Diversity Advisory Council. Through this appointment, he collaborated with elected officials and assisted with developing community programs designed to promote ethnic, cultural and diversity understanding at all levels of community life in Broward County.
Daniel earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and General Management from Florida State University. He later received his MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University and is recognized as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute and a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) by the Society of Human Resources Management.
