Ms. Nadege Vilsaint is a Registered Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Barry University. After more than 15 years of experience in this field, and identifying the needs in her community, Ms. Vilsaint founded Prosperity Social & Community Development Group, Inc. in 2011. The organization attained its non-profit status in July 2013 and a month later launched its first program in the City of North Miami.
This is “Connecting the Bridge through Literacy”, a program that started targeting Haitian immigrants who struggle with English as a second language. In less than two years the program has served over 150 clients and today it includes Hispanics and other groups experiencing difficulties with the English language.
In 2014, Prosperity Social & Community Development Group, Inc. founded “Star Shine Literacy Summer Camp” for children 6 to 13 years of age from low income families, offering math and reading instruction as well as fun activities and field trips. The camp was also opened in 2015 with so much success among parents that it has expanded to be an after school program during the school year.
In April 2014 PSCDG also launched a new program, Women & Girls NOW (Needing Opportunities to Win) Project to provide literacy and job readiness skills to women and girls in need. The program targets at-risk girl students and women ex-offenders who are re-integrating society from the Department of Corrections. The program served 70 clients the first year and is expected to help between 80 and 100 clients by the end of this year.
The mission of the organization is to provide meaningful opportunities that will revitalize social and economic development in underserved communities throughout Miami-Dade County including minority groups, immigrants, women, teen-girls, the homeless and ex-offenders.
