Shirley Plantin is currently the Director of Youth & Family Advocacy for Sant La, Haitian Neighborhood Center. Previously, she has been the Director of several at-risk youth prevention programs, with various specializations ranging from Substance Abuse, HIV/STI, and Gangs. Ms. Plantin is also a member of the Florida Gang Investigators Association. She has also provided years of intervention and advocacy for youth and families dealing with the many complex instituions ie, DJJ, JAC, and Police Departments. She currently facilitates trainings and workshops for partnering school administrations, professional organizations, churches, and the community at large, around culturally sensitive and appropriate topics, i.e. The Basics of Haitian Gangs, Barriers to successful Parent-child relationships in the Haitian Community, and Prevention 101 to list a few. She holds an Executive Juris Doctorate from Concord School of Law, a Master’s degree in Justice Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in criminal justice.
