Emmy Maurilus

Emmy Maurilus, Ph.D., BCBA-D, CABAS® Master Teacher, serves as the Assistant Chair of the Department of Education and the Department of Human Services at Nova Southeastern University’s Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice. She is a professor and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) with extensive experience in educational, clinical, and in-home settings.

Dr. Maurilus works with typically and atypically developing children, focusing on decreasing challenging behavior and increasing socially significant behavior. She also runs her private practice, Ivy Behavioral Institute, providing consultation and training services to behavior analytic companies. Currently, her work centers around applying behavior analysis to education and preparing students for careers in Behavior Analysis.

Driven by a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals on the autism spectrum, Dr. Maurilus is dedicated to bridging the gap between autism awareness and tangible support within the Haitian community. She is committed to educating this community on the importance of early intervention. Her passion for her Haitian heritage, family, and service extends to her active involvement in various leadership roles within her childhood Haitian church. Currently, she serves as the Youth Ministry Director, Young Adult Outreach Coordinator, Lead Vocalist/Worship Team Coordinator, Music Department Administrator, and Youth Choir Director.

Dr. Maurilus holds a Ph.D. in Behavior Analysis, a Master of Philosophy in Behaviorism, and a Master of Arts in Teaching as Applied Behavior Analysis, all from Columbia University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University.
