Nadege Green
Industry: Journalism
Nadege is an award-winning journalist for WLRN, Miami’s NPR station. She reports on social justice issues and gun violence. Nadege has been a journalist in Miami for 10 years. Her reporting has appeared in the Miami Herald, NPR and Public Radio International; her work has also been cited in Teen Vogue, The Takeaway, and the Washington Post. For Nadege, journalism boils down not only to telling the stories of the people who are accessible, but also seeking out the voices we don’t hear from and telling those stories too. In 2018 she became the first Haitian-American to receive the Ruth Shack Leadership award from the Miami Foundation; she was recognized for her body of work that gives voice to the most vulnerable and forgotten among us. When she isn’t working, Nadege is an avid urban gardener who grows her own vegetables and traditional Haitian medicinal herbs (a skill she picked up from her Haitian dad). She lives in Miami with her two magical sons. Before journalism, Nadege was pursuing a career as a ballerina. Her favorite website is verysmartbrothas.theroot.com and, if she could choose to have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, she’d go with Zora Neale Hurston.
