Emmanuella Telfort

Emmanuella Annette Telfort was born and raised in Miami, Florida. From a young age, she exhibited a passion for service and leadership, which shaped her path in life.

Emmanuella began her higher education at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communications with a minor in Political Science. While at FAU, she immersed herself in campus life. As an Orientation and Welcome Leader, she helped new students adjust to university life. She also found community in Caribbean clubs like Konbit Kreyol, celebrating her cultural heritage and forming lasting bonds.

Driven by a desire to make a broader impact, Emmanuella participated in missionary trips to Haiti. These trips deepened her understanding of global issues and strengthened her commitment to advocacy.

Later, she pursued her legal education at Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She graduated with her Juris Doctor in 2016. During her time in law school, Emmanuella’s dedication to social justice became clear. She worked as an editor for the Journal of Race, Gender, and Poverty, where she tackled issues like racial inequality and food deserts in minority communities. Additionally, she gained practical experience as a judicial extern.

Her advocacy extended beyond academics. For instance, Emmanuella became actively involved with the Haitian Lawyers Association (HLA). She served as Treasurer and Director, contributing to the association’s mission to promote justice and empower the Haitian community.

Recognized for her leadership, Emmanuella has been honored as a Fellow for the Florida Association for Women Lawyers. She also joined the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association Leadership Academy. In 2024, she was selected for the prestigious William Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy.

In her personal life, Emmanuella serves her church, participates in community events, and cherishes time with loved ones. She truly embodies the values of service, leadership, and advocacy.
