Yopro Class Of 2016
The YoPro, or Young Professionals section, was established under the umbrella of the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (HACCOF) by a group of dedicated young professionals. The YoPro mission is to create an alliance of young professionals who share similar goals and aspirations, while embracing the unique vision shared by the Haitian community of South Florida.
YoPro fills the gap of disengagement which was identified by young Haitian-American professionals who demonstrated strengths and accomplishments. As the members of HACCOF sat around the table, they began to brainstorm on what they wanted to accomplish as young professionals and how they could bridge that gap. The group left the meeting motivated about the bond they formed and even came up with the name “YoPro.” This solid group of young professionals began to grow as they embarked on a journey that would allow them to connect with like-minded young professionals across the globe.
HACCOF will honor 20 Haitian American YoPros in the South Florida Community, under the age of 40, for their commitment and contributions professionally, civically, personally and academically. HACCOF’s aim is to identify individuals who are inspired to serve the community, have demonstrated effective leadership and have the dedication to do more for the Haitian community through South Florida and beyond. YoPros are an expression of culture and pride throughout the Haitian community; whether it is through the art of Media, Medicine, Entrepreneurship, Research, Governmental Affairs and more.
All twenty recipients selected will be honored with a plaque. Only the top two recipients will receive an all-expenses paid trip for one week to Haiti where they will have an opportunity to meet with various cabinet members and engage in open dialogues. They will also have the opportunity to visit some of Haiti’s most beautiful treasures.
