Melissa Jean-Baptiste
Melissa Jean-Baptiste, born on June 11, 1993, is currently a Senior Corporate Communication Specialist at Royal Caribbean Group.
Her journey in communications began with her education and early career experiences, which shaped her dedication to community engagement and cultural promotion.
Melissa graduated from William H. Turner Technical Arts High School in 2011 and later from Florida A&M University. After completing her studies, she returned to Miami to pursue a career in public relations. During this time, she gained invaluable experience through internships at Lex Promotion and Marketing Group and the Conroy Martinez Group. There, she had the opportunity to work with clients like Atlantic Records, Rick Ross, Miami Seaquarium, and John Martin’s Irish Pub.
Next, Melissa’s career took her to Atlanta, Georgia. She worked for the State Road and Tollway Authority and the City of Atlanta’s Citizen Review Board, which further honed her skills in government communications.
Seeking new challenges, Melissa joined Royal Caribbean Group as a Senior Communication Specialist, focusing on destination and community engagement. One of her most fulfilling projects involved launching the Artist Discovery Program. This initiative highlighted Caribbean talent on the Icon of the Seas, the largest ship in the world. Through her efforts, Haitian artist Philip Dodard was selected as a finalist and created a mural on this renowned ship.
Moreover, she co-chairs the Black Employees Resource Group at Royal Caribbean. In this role, she actively works to raise awareness of the Haitian community in Miami, leading initiatives like Haitian Heritage Month activations.
As the daughter of Haitian immigrants who owned restaurants in Miami, Melissa is passionate about promoting Haitian heritage. She is honored to be one of the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce 20 Under 40 award. She looks forward to continuing her efforts to uplift the Haitian community.
